Please note that these represent the general characteristics we look for in companies, but the industry-specific standards are the starting place when determining eligibility for the Seal of Approval. For example, a company that specializes in packaging will be held to higher standards than outlined here in the “Packaging” section of Product/Service.

- have a forthright statement of values or principles;
- provide clear disclosure of internal policies and practices that impact employees;
- provide disclosure of policies and practices that impact external stakeholders;
- submit to all required financial audits.
Preferences
- submit to third-party audits of social/environmental performance and release the conclusions thereof;
- provide full public disclosure of manufacturing and labor information, including wages and working conditions.

Impact

- Involvement in supporting community activities through volunteer time, financial resources, use of office space, etc.
