Stakeholder Engagement
Transparency is the core of our GreenGain certification program. Our vast business and consumer audiences look to us to define and redefine green, and we believe in a collaborative process of mutual reflection and learning. As best practices improve and industries change, Green America is committed to high levels of transparency and stakeholder engagement in our ongoing standards development.
The GreenGain Public Beta, our first iteration of the program, lays the groundwork for our formal multi-stakeholder engagement process. This phase is led by Green America’s internal Standards Committee, a four-person team that reports directly to Green America's Board of Directors. The Public Beta engages our community of business members directly to solicit recommendations and feedback as we continually update our standards.
The Standards Committee also works with a panel of experts with representatives from a variety of industries found in GreenGain to collect and review feedback for industry-specific standards and best practices.
The feedback from our public beta is incorporated with input and guidance from an independent and external Standards Advisory Committee and industry working groups who report directly to Green America’s Board of Directors.
The Standards Advisory Committee oversees amendments to our standards, ratings methodology, Gold level review, and on site audit requirements as we continue to develop our certification program. These external advisory committees ensure our GreenGain certification program upholds fair and rigorous standards for both social and environmental performance.
We will regularly update our website with further details as we solidify the terms of governance and membership for the committees.
