Since 1982, Green America has been helping businesses succeed by going green. We offer one of the most authentic trustmarks for green shoppers, recognizing businesses that show deep commitments to social and environmental responsibility. GreenGain, our exciting new online program, helps businesses measure and share their sustainability efforts, identify and implement new ways to go green, and earn Green America’s Business Certification.

The Seal of Approval is the best way for conscious consumers to find and support green businesses. It demonstrates to patrons, partners, and peers that a business has a genuine commitment to sustainability through:

• Actively using their businesses as tools for positive social change;
• Running "values-driven" enterprises that operate according to principles of social
• justice AND environmental sustainability;
• Being socially and environmentally responsible in the way they source, manufacture, and market their products and run their offices and factories; and
• Being committed to developing and employing extraordinary practices that benefit workers, customers, communities, and the environment.

In issuing our trustmark over the years, we have reviewed the social and environmental practices of over 8,000 small businesses. In the process, we’ve also learned what both consumers and businesses need to go greener. We hear a resounding call for greater transparency around sustainability practices—and, from small businesses, for more help and guidance on their paths to sustainability.

GreenGain Certification Program

As a result, we poured our knowledge and experience into a hands-on certification program that will reward AND guide businesses on the path to sustainability. GreenGain, our new online tool, will help businesses:

• Measure their current sustainability efforts, and identify and plan new sustainability projects strategically;
• Earn Green America’s tiered Seal of Approval (Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels) as they build a track record of deeper action; and
• Report leadership to clients and customers through a real-time online Sustainability Profile linked to the Seal of Approval.

GreenGain will make it possible to acknowledge both the cutting edge leaders and those on the real path to sustainability.
