Faces of the Green Pages: GreenChoice Bank

GreenChoice Bank invests their customers' deposits back into the local business community, supporting green entrepreneurs and sustainability projects. Learn how Bank of America motivated the founding team to create a new community banking institution.

"GreenChoice Bank was founded by an experienced team of local bankers that saw a void in the financial services industry," says Steve Sherman, chief operating officer of GreenChoice Bank. "Banks had drifted away from their true responsibility to the community, which we believe should be investing in the local economy and treating customers as people and not just account numbers. There was a growing need for a better relationship between banks, the public they serve, and their collective impact on the planet"

When Bank of America took over the Chicago bank where Sherman worked, he knew he didn't want to continue on. The takeover encouraged him to move his professional direction into socially responsible banking.

Learn about the green initiatives of GreenChoice Bank and the financing projects that give the banking team pride. Read all about it in our interview with GreenChoice Bank at GreenAmerica.org.
