Since 1982, Denise has held senior positions in the marketing and publications divisions at Green America.She currently serves as the publisher for Green America publications (National Green Pages and Green American) and in 2001 launched Green Festivals and serves as director of the Green Festival Institute. She also produces the Green Business Conferences/Seminars. As a community activist, Denise has raised over 250 million dollars for her underserved, diverse, neighborhood outside Washington DC. She holds board positions with Green America, Green Festival and Port Towns Community Development Corporation.

Desireé Reese
Deputy Director and Director of Green America Exchange

Within her many roles, Desireé manages GBN partnerships, social media and marketing, webinars and membership. She works on the National Green Pages® publication team and the planning of the Green Business Conference/Seminars. Desireé came to Green America after working for many years in the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) field as a mediator and trainer. Prior to joining Green America, she worked as the Mediation Program Director for a Community Mediation Center and had her own mediation practice which included private clients and government agencies. She graduated from the Executive Nonprofit Management program at Georgetown University and completed undergraduate studies in Business Administration/Human Resource Management.

Maren Maier
Director, Seal of Approval and Standards

As Director of Seal of Approval and Standards, Maren oversees the process for business members to earn the coveted Green America Seal of Approval, including standards and partnership development. Maren joined the staff in 2011 after helping ABC Carpet and Home, a home furnishings department store in New York, transition to socially responsible business practices and sustainable supply chains. She is also an editor for CATALYST Strategic Design Review, a quarterly publication to stimulate thinking and encourage conversation about the role of strategic design in defining and developing an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable future.

Tish Kashani
Senior Researcher


First joining the staff as the Membership Coordinator, Tish moved into the screening position in late 2006. Being part of the screening team has given her a great opportunity to learn about the work of GBN members and to partner on the path to deeper green. Previously Tish worked with nonprofits and small businesses serving children, and became attracted to the work of Green America as a long-time individual member.

Alix Davidson
Senior Regional Director, New York, Chicago, & Washington DC Green Festivals

Alix came to Green America in 2004 as the Regional Director for the first DC Green Festival and has since received an M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and planned six Green Festivals in DC and one in Chicago, as well as serving as the Green Festival's researcher. Having volunteered for the Audubon Society on their forest protection campaign in Olympia, Washington, Alix came to Washington in 1998 to work with Audubon chapters on their forest campaigns and has been working on local and national campaigns ever since.

Sandy Burke
Green Business Sales and Development

Sandy has worked with a wide range of advertising mediums, including broadcast TV, radio, national spot radio, print, in-store and transit media.  Her experience is in advertising sales and sales management.  Sandy loves all things green, she love peoples, and believes that selling is helping - so she's here to help!

Rob Hanson
Advertising Manager

Rob Hanson works with Green Business Network members who advertise in Green America's publications and on Green America web sites. He joined the Green America staff in 1997, and worked with both Green Business Network and Social Investment Forum members before joining the Advertising Team.

Fran Teplitz
Director, Social Investing & Strategic Outreach

Fran's work focuses on the core strategies of socially responsible investing (SRI), including education and outreach on SRI basics, community investing, and shareholder action. She also plays a lead role in Green America's coalitional work on issues such as climate change, advancing the green economy, and control of toxic chemicals. Fran informs and involves Green America's members -- both businesses and individuals -- in key policy issues related to Green America's agenda. She holds an M.A. in Peace Studies from the Institute for International Peace Studies at Notre Dame.

Misha works in marketing and member services with a focus on technology and events. Before joining Green America in 2009, she used her B.A. in East Asian Studies from Bryn Mawr College as a small business entrepreneur in the international music industry. With years of experience in after-hours activism and organizing on social and environmental causes, she enjoys the opportunity to work towards a greener future full-time. She is proud to be the 50th Founding Member of Hub DC, a center-in-progress for social innovation in the DC metro area.

Membership and Research Assistant

Nick joined Green America in May of 2011 interning for Green America’s Chief Business Officer in Organizational Systems. He currently serves as the Membership and Research Assistant to the Green Business Network. Before coming to Green America, Nick was Volunteer Coordinator and a Client Advocate for a domestic violence advocacy agency. He is an avid runner and is heavily involved in the Metro community, serving as Volunteer Coordinator for The Concert for Life charity, among his many volunteer roles. Nick is pursuing his Master of Science in Association and Nonprofit Management and Master of Business Administration at the University of Maryland.
